identification: Medium size tending to small. Round?conicl and often angular on the sides. The skin base colour is greenish yellow, washed deep red, barely visible lenticels. The stem is stout and medium length, set in a narrow, moderately deep, russeted cavity. The bloom has a greasy feel. The eye is small and partly open, set in a deep and narrow basin. The stem is short and stout, setin in a deep and narrow cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is yellowish stained red under the skin. Soft and tender, melting. Juicy, sweet, very mild acidity, with strawberry and melon flavours.
uses: A good eating apple.
origins: Federal Agriculture Research Station, Ottawa, Ontario (Canada) Introducesd 1921. Open pollinated blossom of McIntosh in 1898.
cultivation: Hardy, moderately vigorous tree. Needs to be thinned after fruit set to get the appropriate size.
