type: Dessert
identification: Large and round. The base colour is yellow, washed bright red or pink on the sun exposed face. Small russet lenticels are scattered over the surface. The eye is partly open to fully open, set in a moderately deep and wide, russeted basin. The stem is slender and short to medium long, set in a deep, funnel shaped cavity which is also russeted.
characteristics: The flesh is yellowish and coarse grained, tough. Chewy, sweet-tart. Becomes more flavourful and sweet after maturing for a month or two in storage. Three months
uses: dessert
origins: Blenheim Orange x Court Pendu Plat, released in 1927. This was one of 14 varieties developed by Eynsham apple breeder Frederick William Wastie (1857-1937).
cultivation: Moderately vigorous, upright spreading tree. Bears fruit on spurs, Tends to produce light crops which ripen in middle of the FOURTH period.
