identification: Medium tending to large, Round. The base colour is yellow, washed two thirds or more with a solid, dark red wash. The eye is small and partly open, set in a deep and somewhat narrow basin. The stem is short medium thickness and set in a deep funnel shaped and lightly russeted cavity. Sparsely marked with small, faded light coloured dots,
characteristics: The flesh is white with red stains under the skin. Tender, crisp, very sweet and juicy.
uses: An excellent dessert apple.
origins: Seedling tree c. 1840, Introduced Oregon, 1920 Originated in Orenco, Oregon, USA, by The Oregon Nursery Company, but said by some to be a chance seedling found in Oregon City. It was catalogued in 1903 but said by some to have originated in about 1840.
