identification: Medium size, conic, Base colour is yellow which is marked orange-red. Large round lenticels are scattered on the surface and a patch of smooth russet surrounds the stem cavity which is somewhat deep and wide. The greenish stem is long and slender. The calyx basin moderately deep, wide and closed. The skin is moderately thick.
characteristics: The flesh is white and quite firm. Very sweet, acidic and aromatic.
origins: Apple tree ‘NY109’ is a hybrid that originated from a planned controlled cross conducted in 1997 by Dr. Susan Brown and Dr. Kevin Maloney for Cornell University (Geneva, New York, U.S.A.). The seed parent
