origins: Raised by Mr. Tampling of Malpas near Newport in South Wales (U.K.). Marketed by his sister Cissy. In 1902, presented as Tamplin, it received an Award of Merit from London's Royal Horticultural Society.
cultivation: Moderately vigorous. Produces heavy crops.
