summary: This offspring of Rall's Genet and Jonathan was created at Japan's Aomori Apple Experiment Station.
identification: Medium size, round. The base colour is green over which there is a red wash and striping covering more than half the surface. The eye is small and closed with long leaves, set in a medium deep and wide basin. The stem is medium length and slender, set in a deep and narrow cavity which can be lightly russeted.
characteristics: The flesh is cream coloured, coarse grained, firm. Juicy and very sweet, with a slightly honeyed flavour. A slightly bitter aftertaste.
origins: Developed in 1931 at the Aomori Apple Experiment Station, Japan by crossing Ralls Genet with Jonathan. Introduced in 1950.
cultivation: Weakly vigorous, spreading tree. Produces very heavy crops every other year. The fruit grows in clusters.
