identification: Medium size, round conic with prominently angular sides. The base colour is yellow over which is a pale red flush and interspersed broken stripes on the sun exposed face, The eye is medium size and partly open, set in a deep and narrow, pleated basin. The stem is short, and somewhat slender, set in a medium deep and wide basin which is often heavy russeted with rays radiating over the shoulder.
characteristics: The flesh is yellow, soft. Sharp. Keeps for two months in cold storage.
uses: Dessert and cooking. Keeps its shape and makes a brisk, sweet and flavourful sauce.
origins: NFC Received by the National Fruit Trials in 1975 from the Vavilov Institute, St Petersburg, Russia.
cultivation: Moderately vigorous. Ready for harvest in the middle of the THIRD period.
