Lord Rosebery

synonyms: Rosebery. Also Roseberry, although this most often refers to the Roseberry Pippin apple.
identification: Medium size, conic and faintly angular faces. The base colour is yellowish green washed bright red and marked with wide, broken stripes on the sun?washed faces. Faint light coloured spots on the shaded faces, also in the red wash. The eye is small and closed, set in a deep basin surrounded by and evey crown. The stem is short and medium stout, set in a shallow but funnel shape cavity which is russeted with rays extending to the shoulder.
characteristics: The flesh is creamy white, crisp and chewy. Sweet and sprightly with a mild strawberry flavour.

cultivation: Weakly vigorous, small spreading tree. Fruit develops on spurs.
cold storage: Keeps up to two months. The skin develops a greasy feel in storage.
