identification: Medium to large. Round conic, often irregularly shaped. Ribbed with prominent knobs at the crown. The skin base colour is yellow which is washed three quarters or more with red and darker stripes and marked with abundant light-coloured lenticels. The eye is small and partly open, set in a deep and narrow basin which is surrounded by an irregularly knobbed crown. The stem is medium length and slender, set in a deep and narrow cavity which is lightly russetted, sometime with thin russet veins extending onto the shoulder.
characteristics: Cream coloured flesh is firm, crisp and coarse-grained. Juicy, very sweet and slightly tart. Mildly aromatic.
uses: Good fresh eating apple, also makes delicious pies. It holds its shape when cooked.
origins: A cross of Richared Delicious with pollen from Linda developed at the Smithfield Experimental Farm in Ontario (Canada) in 1939. Released in 1971.
cultivation: Vigorous, spreading tree which grows fruit on both spurs and the tips of new growth. Produces good crops but
