identification: Medium size, round and tend to be somewhat flat. Smooth yellow?green skin very much like the Greensleeves parent, sometimes with a bit of light blush on the sun? exposed surface. A small patches of russet are often present.
characteristics: Essentially an improved Greensleeves, this apple is crisp and juicy, with creamy white flesh, very much like the Discovery parent. Even the faint strawberry hints are sometimes discernible.
uses: A dessert apple intended for eating fresh.
origins: Developed in the mid?1980s by Hugh Ermen, apple breeder in Kent and acclaimed fruit expert (retired) for the Brogdale Experimental Horticultural Station, and marketed by Nick Dunn of Frank P Matthews of Worcestershire. A cross between Discovery and the Greensleeves which had been developed at the East Malling Research Station two decades earlier.
cultivation: Low vigour, upright spreading spur bearer.Heavy cropper. Disease resitent and does well in damp climates. Ready for harvest in the early part of the midseason.
