Legana
identification: Medium size. Ovate, sometimes conic. The base colour is a light yellowish green over which is a dull red blush on the sun exposed face. The eye is large and open, set in a moderately shallow open and lightly puckered basin which is surounded by a lightly knobbed crown. The stem is short and moderately stour, set in a deep and narrow cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is yellowish white, firm and crisp. Sweet, juicy with nutty flavour.
origins: Developed in the early 1940s by James Bulman of Legana, Tasmania (Australia) by crossing Democrat and Delicious.
cultivation: Weak vigor, spreading. Ready for harvest in the last half of the FOURTH period.
cold storage: Keeps three months in cold storage.
