identification: Large. Round and flattened. The base colour is green over which is a reddish brown blush on the sun exposed face and marked with abundant darker points which fade on the shaded face. Develops a greasy feel at maturity. The eye is medium size and partly open set in a puckered, shallow and open basin. The stem is thin and short, set in a small and narrow cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is white, firm and crisp. Juicy and sweet, slightly tart. Keeps for three months in cold storage.

origins: Laxton Bros. of Bedford 1900 Raised in 1900 at Bedford by Laxton Bros., and introduced by them in 1922. Received an Award of Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society in 1920
cultivation: Moderately vigorous, spreading.Ready for harvest in the middle of the THIRD period.
