Lange's Perfection

identification: Medium size. Round tending to oblate. The base colour is yellow over which is a dark red, almost maroon wash on the sun exposed face fading toward red striping on the shaded face. The eye is medium size, closed and set in a moderately deep basin. The stem is medium long tending to short and set in a funnel shaped, lightly russeted cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is cream coloured, firm and chewy. Sweet. Keeps three weeks in cold storage.

origins: 1983 Wigan Received by the National Fruit Trials in 1983 from Wigan, Lancs.
cultivation: Moderately vigorous. Ready for harvest in the first half of the FOURTH period.
