identification: Small to medium, round tending to oblate. Angular sides and ribbed at the eye. The skin colour is greenish yellow maturing to golden yellow, flushed bright red with darker streaks on the sun exposed face. Light coloured lenticels are visible against the blush. The stem is short and slender, set in a narrow and deep, russeted cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is light green, coarse?grained,tender and juicy. Very fragrant with hints of balsam. Sharp when first picked but softening in storage. Keeps two months.
uses: Fresh eating.
origins: Warwickshire UK 1884
cultivation: Vigorous, upright spreading spur bearer. Ready for harvest by the first half of the SECOND period.
