identification: Medium size, round tending to oblate. The skin is golden yellow washed deep red with mahogany stripes on the sun exposed face, intermittedly streaked with red over yellow on the shaded face. Patches of cinnamon russet and also russeted lenticels. The stem is short and slender, set in a shallow, russeted cavity. Character of the
origins: Raised in the early 1600s by Lord Scadamore at Holme Lacy. It was thought to have gone extinct and that existing Hereford Redstreaks are actually mislabelled other varieties. However, variety is grown.
