identification: Medium?large size, conic/oblong shape. Waisted, prominetly ribbed and distinctly five?crowned. Dark red wash covering 60 to 90 per cent of the light green base colour.
characteristics: Flesh is pale greenish (especially around the core and stalk), fine texture. Sweet with pleasant acid balance. Bland with an aroma and flavour of cabbage.
uses: Best eaten fresh.
origins: Developed at the Jork Fruit Research Station near Hamburg, Germany, during the 1950s by crossing a Richared Delicious and a Weisser Winterglockenapfel. cultivation: A vigorous, upright spreading spur bearer. Crops heavy annually. Ready for harvest starting in the middle of FOURTH period.. No fruit drop tendancy. Problems: Susceptible to scab. Highly susceptible to fireblight. Prone to mouldy core.
