identification: Large, round. The skin greenish yellow over which is a dull orange blush and some crimson stripes on the sun exposed face. Scattered russte lenticels. The eye is small and partly open, set in a shallow and narrow basin. The stem is long, slender and set deep in a funnel shaped cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is white, fine?grained, very tender, Sweet?sharp and juicy. Somewhat bland.
uses: A cooking apple. Makes a sweet?tart, light coloured sauce.
origins: Raised in the gardens at Frogrnore by the late Mr. Ingram, the royal gardener Raised in about 1865 by Mr Ingram at The Royal Gardens, Frogmore, Windsor, England
