synonyms: Faust, Faust's Winter
identification: Medium to large. Smooth skin and yellow. Usually overlaid with a thick pale bloom.
characteristics: The flesh is yellow, tender and somewhat dry. Aromatic.
origins: An old North Carolina apple which originated with the Foust family of Guilford County and introduced to the public by Squire Kinney who also brought attention to another fine Southern apple, Magnum Bonum.
ploidism: Self sterile.
