identification: Medium size or slightly smaller, ovate shape.. Skin is smooth and yellow, blushed pale red on the sun exposed face. Liberally marked with russet lenticels. The stalk is medium length and set in a moderately deep cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is yellowish, tender juicy and sweet? tart. Keeps two months in cold storage.
uses: Makes a delicious yellow sauce.
origins: A chance seedling that grew in the garden of Mrs Horrex in Norfolk UK and introduced in 1818 by nurseryman George Lindley.
cultivation: Moderately vigorous upright spreading spur bearer. Ready for picking in the last portion of the THIRD period.
