type: Cooking, Dessert, Sauce
identification: Medium tending to small. Round, tending to round conic. Te base colour is green, maturing to yellow sometimes with bright red streaking on the sun exposed face. Marked with russet veining and russet lenticels, particularly around the crown and base. The eye is large and open, set in shallow and narrow basin. The stem is short to medium length and stout, set in a wide and somewhat deep cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is greenish, firm and crisp. Juicy and somewhat astringent.
uses: Deemed an excellent dessert apple by Robert Hogg, but most often used for cooking. Makes a fruity, sharp sauce.
