type: Culinary, Sauce
identification: Large, round to round conic. Yellow blushed copper red on the sun exposed face and extensively russeted from the stem cavity up. The eye is medium size and partly open, set in a shallow and narrow basin. The stem is short and slender, set in a medium deep and narrow, russeted cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is white, firm, sharp, mild flavour.
uses: Cooking. Makes a mild, lemon yellow sauce.
origins: Blenheim Orange x Sandringham.This was one of 14 varieties developed by Eynsham, Oxfordshire (UK), apple breeder Frederick William Wastie (1857?1937). Raised by F.W.Wastie, Eynsham, Oxford. It was received by th National Fruit Trials in 1960.
cultivation: Moderately vigorous, upright spreading spur bearer. Ready for havest in first half of the second period.
