identification: Large, round to round conic. The base colour is yellow, almost orange, washed red over which are darker red stripes. The calyx is medium size and partly open, set in a shallow and narrow, ribbed basin. The stem is short and medium thick set in a medium deep and narrow, lightly russeted cavity.
characteristics: Pale cream-coloured flesh. Juicy and acidic.
origins: Raised by W.P. Seabrook and Sons, Boreham, Essex (U.K.) and introduced in 1921. Commercially grown in Essex and Cambridgeshire in the 1930 s but later displaced by the Bramley.
cultivation: Vigorous, upright spreading, spur bearer.
