identification: Medium size.Oblate tending to conic, often with one side higher than the other. The base colour is yellow over which is a dark red wash that covers the entire sun exposed surface, fading to intermitent, pale red striping on the shaded face. The eye is large and open with long petals set in a medium deep open basin. The stem is long and slender, set in a deep and narrow, russeted cavity. Light coloured lenticels.Bloomy.
characteristics: The flesh is yellowish, coarse grained, firm and crisp. Juicy and sweet?tart.
uses: A good cooking apple, especially for pies and sauces.

cultivation: Vigorous, spreading tree. Fruit is ready for harvest in the middle of the first period. Starts to bear fruit at t years of age, but it has a tendancy to produce every other y
cold storage: Does not keep well, going soft and dry after just a few weeks.
harvest: In the first half of the third period. Tends to drop fruit before harvest.
