summary: This Honeycrisp type apple ripens ten days later than the parent Honeycrisp and develops more intense colouration, often with the entire surface showing red. The flavour is slightly more tart.
identification: Fruit is round and large. Base colour yellow over which are large red blotches marked with small, round, light-coloured lenticels. The skin is medium thick and frequently develops a waxy bloom as it ripens. The stem is stout and short set in a narrow and shallow cavity. The calyx basin is wide and moderately deep, the calyx leaves are typically erect.
characteristics: The flesh is yellowish, firm and crunchy. Juicy, sweet and somewhat tart. Similar to the parent Honeycrisp in flavour.
origins: Grown in 1991 from select open-pollinated seedlings of
Honeycrisp developed by orchardist and apple breeder Doug Shefelbine of Holman, Wisconsin (U.S.A.).
