identification: Medium size, round and slightly conic in shape. The base colour is yellow, almost completely washed red over which is a dense pattern of darker striping. The sun exposed face is often a deep maroon colour. Small, tan-coloured lenticels are scattered over the surface. The stem cavity is russetted with rays extending almost to the surface. The stem is long and slender, set in a deep and narrow cavity. The stem is small and closed, set in a rather deep and narrow basin.

origins: Developed at the Delbard Pépinières International at Malicorne, in the Allier Department of Central France from a cross of
Starkspur Golden Delicious with pollen from
Tohoku 3 . Introduced in the early 1990s.
