summary: One of nine varieties of slender-spindle apples, developed by the Delbard Nurseries in France for terrace or small-garden plantings.
identification: Large apples. Bright reddish orange. Yellowish lenticels.
characteristics: The flesh is firm. Balanced flavours but need a few weeks in storage after harvest to fully mature.
origins: Developed at Delbard Pépinières International's experimental orchard in Malicorne, in the Allier Department of Central France. The focus of its apple breeding programme has been to develop disease-resistant cultivars.
cultivation: Moderately vigorous, slender-spindle growth habit and needs to be trimmed annually to retain its semi-columnar structure. Well suited to small gardens and will grow well in suitable pots. Usually begins to produce fruit at two to three years and grows to a maximum of three to four metres. Produces heavy annual harvests.
harvest: Ready for harvest late in the fourth period.
ploidism: Diploid. Self sterile.
