identification: Large, round tending to oblatel. Base skin colour is yellow over which is a red wash and darker red stripes on the sun exposed face. smooth and distinctly greasy. the eye is small to medium and closed, set in a slightly recessed and wide basin which is lightly ribbed. The stem is short, slender and set in a medium deep and narrow, russeted cavity.
characteristics: The flish is white, firm and juicy. Quite tart.
uses: Cooking. Good for making a sharp, bright yellow sauce.
origins: Raised by Robert Norman at Cottenham Cambridgeshire from an open? pollinated Dumelow s Seedling. Introduced by Mr H J Gautry c1924.
cultivation: Moderately vigorous, upright spreading tip bearer.
