identification: Medium size, round to oblate with somewhat angular sides. The skin base colour is pale yellow over which are flushes of bright red and strewn with russet lenticels. The eye is small and partly open, set in a somewhat deep and narrow basin which is often surrounded by an irregularly knobbed crown. The stem is short and stout, set in a medium deep and narrow, russeted cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is white, firm, moderatly juicy and sharp.
uses: A cider apple also used for cooking.
origins: Kilkenny, Originated in Ireland. Described in 1951
