identification: Medium size and round, somewhat conic, often irregular. The skin is smooth, green?yellow with red blush on the sun?exposed face. Some light russetting. Numerous lenticels, sometimes indented. The stem is medium long and tends to be somewhat stout, set in a lightly russeted cavity.
characteristics: Flesh is white with a slight tinge of yellow, fine?grained and tender. Juicy, sweet and slightly tart.
uses: Good for eating fresh and cooking.
origins: Thought to have originated in Westchester County, New York (USA). A popular home garden apple during the 1800s in the US. American Pomological Society listed it as the Summer Pippin in its 1871 catalogue. but name was changed in 1897.
cultivation: Medium to large, vigorous tree. Upright, round form, some spreading. Percocious. Bears annually. Long harvest period starting in The middle of the first period and can last six weeks.
