identification: Medium tending to large size, conic. The skin is smooth and yellow skin with a scarlet flush and broken stripes. Flushed solid red on the sun-exposed face. The calyx is set in a wide and shallow, pleated basin. The stem is short, moderately stout and set in a somewhat shallow and narrow cavity.
characteristics: Flesh is yellowish, fine-grained and crisp. Juicy and sweet-sharp, aromatic.
origins: Raised from an open pollinated Cox’s Orange Pippin seedling by J. W. Carswell at Ashtead, Surrey (U.K.) in 1938.
cultivation: Moderately vigorous, spreading spur bearer.
