summary: Similar in many ways to the Golden Delicious apple, this chance seedling has a somewhat more brisk and tangy flavour.
identification: Medium size, tending to large. Conic, yellow base colour with a pronounced orange-red blush on the sun-exposed face.
characteristics: Firm, juicy, tangy. Golden Delicious flavour, but slightly more brisk. Flavour improves in storage.
origins: Listed as a chance seedling found by Ralph B. Griffith on his father's orchard in Cobden, Illinois (U.S.A.) in 1959. Listed as a cross of Jonathan and Golden Delicious and introduced by Stark Brothers Nursery in 1968.
cultivation: Somewhat precocious, producing the first crop four years after planting. Bears crops on an annual basis.
