origins: Obtained from a friend in 1986 by grower Claude Jolicoeur of Quebec (Canada) as an unlabeled sapling which was planted and found to be an excellent cider and eating apple. At the time, Claude Jolicoeur was unable to track down the identity and background of the apple, so he called it Bilodeau which is the family name of the friend who gave him the tree. In the course of DNA analyses carried out in 2022 at the University Guelph (Canada) it was found to match the DNA of the Trailman apple. Details of the variety are provided at
Trail (a.k.a. Bilodeau) .
