Octave Thomas also lists Belle d'Aout is a synonym for Bellflower (Belle Fleure) in his "Guide Pratique de l'Amateur des Fruits" (published 1876). In North America, Charles Downing listed Belle d'Aout as a synonym for Belle de Bruxelles in his 1872 update of A.J. Downing's "The Fruit and Fruit Trees of America."
