identification: Medium size, round?flattened and with faint ribbing on the sides. Usually has a hairline running from the stem to the eye.The skin colour is green maturing to greenish yellow, often with russet patchwork. Prominent white lenticels. The eye is small and closed or slightly opened and set in a medium wide, medium deep, puckered basin. The stem is short and slender, set in a wide, deep cavity which is green and lightly russeted.
characteristics: The flesh has a greenish hue when first picked but matures to yellow in storage. Fine grained, tender, juicy and sweet sharp, Mild flavour.
uses: A dessert apple which is also used for cooking.
origins: mid 1800s, 1831 Kent
cultivation: Moderately vigorous, upright spreading. Bears fruit on tips and spurs.
