Barritskov Madaeble

identification: Large to very large. Round-conic tending to pronounced long-conic shape. The base colour is greenish yellow over which is a bright red wash with darker streaks over all of the sun-exposed face. The stem is short and stout, set in a deep and funnel-shaped cavity, slightly russetted. The calyx is small, partly open and set in a shallow, narrow and ribbed basin. Small. abundant lenticels. Develops a greasy feel at maturity and in storage.
characteristics: The flesh is yellowish. Very juicy and sweet-tart. Browns when exposed to air.
origins: Originated at Barritskov on the east coast of Midtjylland in Denmark in 1890.

ploidism: Diploid. Self sterile.
