identification: Medium size,Round ovate, fairly regular and consistent in shape and size. The skin background colour is greenish yellow blushed red, more intensely on the sun exposed face and faint streaks. Large russet spots as well as russeting spreading from the base. The stalk is short and set alongside a fleshy growth in a shallow russeted basin.
characteristics: The flesh is firm, crisp, and juicy. Pleasantly tart.
uses: A cooking apple which lasts for barely three months in a coolroom.
origins: A chance seedling that grew on the bank of a ditch that ran through the home nursery of ????? Ronalds in Brentford (UK). Recorded by Robert Hogg in The Fruit Manual.
