Autumn Delight

Identification: Small to medium size and slightly conic. The base colour is greenish-yellow washed red over three quarters of the surface. The stem is long.

Characteristics: The flesh is creamy white, often with reddish stains under the skin. Firm, very crisp, juicy and sweet. Resistant to browning when cut open.

Uses: The flesh tends to be firm when cooked, making this a good choice for early pies and sauces.

Origins: Haralson X Parkland . Introduced in 2008

Cultivation: Semi dwarfing. Winter hardy. Ready for harvest toward the end of the first period and the fruit tends to hang well, with little or no tendency to drop. Needs to be pruned in order to get reasonable apple size.

Ploidism: Diploid. Self sterile.

Cold storage: Keeps well in storage but tends to develop a waxy feel. Keeps well in storage.

Vulnerabilities: Resistant to mildew, but susceptible to blight.
