summary: An Australian apple variety intended as an early-fresh eating apple.
identification: Medium size, Round-conic. The base colour is yellow, washed bright red and marked with deep red or purple stripes. The eye is medium size and open, set in a somewhat deep and wide basin. The stem is medium length and slender, set in a deep and wide cavity which is often lightly russeted. The lenticels are small and light coloured. Smooth and medium thick skin.
characteristics: The flesh is cream-coloured, medium to coarse grained and firm. Juicy and sweet, slightly brisk. Mildly aromatic.
origins: Developed in 1968 by C.W. Winks at the Granite Belt Horticultural Research Station in Applethorpe, Queensland (Australia) by crossing Delicious with pollen from Early McIntosh. The seedling was selected in 1981 and released to the orchard industry in 1985 with the code name GB155.
cultivation: Vigorous, upright. Bears fruit on spurs and at the end of new growth. Precocious. No apparent tendency to become biennial.
vulnerabilities: Slighly susceptible to moldy core. Moderately resistant to scab and mildew.
harvest: Ready for harvest starting at the early in the fourth period.
