identification: Small, round flattened. Yellow base colour over which are random red stripes. The stem is long and thin, set in a moderately deep and narrow cavity.
characteristics: Moderately sweet and somewhat acidic. Spiced flavour.
origins: A cross of Geheimrat Oldenburg x Weisser Klarapfel developed in 1938 by J. Fischer at Mülheim-Kärlich (Germany). Named in honour of Anton Fischer, a plant breeder in the northwestern part of the country.
progeny: Sommerregent and Rheingold are both crosses of Anton Fischer and James Grieve
harvest: Starting late in the third period and extending into the fourth.
ploidism: Self sterile.
