identification: Round flattened. The base colour is yellowish over which are splashes of bright red. The stem is short and slender, set in a deep, funnel shaped cavity. The eye is small and closed, set in a shallow basin.
characteristics: The flesh is white. Tender, juicy and flavourful.
origins: Raised by W.H. Read, Canada west. Listed in the 1878 edition of "Scott's Orchardist" by John Scott.
harvest: Ripens late third period or the first half of the fourth.
ploidism: Diploid. Self sterile.
