identification: Large, round to round conic. The base colour is greenish yellow, washed red on the sun exposed face and marked with a distinct pattern of red stripes. The calyx is small and closed, set in a shallow, ribbed basin. The stem is medium length medium thickness and set in a funnel-shaped cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is white, moderately fine grained. Oxidizes quickly after exposure to air.
uses: A dessert apple that is also used in baking and cider.
cultivation: Vigorous, spreading.
ploidism: Diploid. Somewhat self fertile, but produces best crops in the proximity of a compatible source of pollen.
