origins: Selected from a cross pollination of Malus zumi "Christmas Holly" and (Malus sieboldii Number 243 crossed with Malus sieboldii Number 768) by the Reverend John L. Fiala in 1981. Patented in 1989 by the Klehm Nursery in South Barrington, Illinois (U.S.A.).
cultivation: Small rounded tree growing to about 10 metres. Blooms heavily every year. Likes moist, well-drained acidic soils and full sun exposure.
vulnerabilities: Resistant to cedar apple rust and powdery mildew. Some susceptibility to scab, fire blight.
notes: Blooms early for most ornamental crabapple trees.

flowers: Buds are generally pink, opening to white, fragrant blossoms. In bloom for about two weeks.
leaves: Leaves are rich green, turning golden in the fall.
