summary: Developed in Sweden during the mid-1900s as part of a programme to find winter hardy cultivars with long shelf life.
identification: Medium size, conic to oblong. The base colour is greenish yellow which is washed over half of the surface with a dark red blush and sparsely speckled with light-coloured lenticels which are not visible on the face not exposed to the sun. The calyx is moderate size, semi-open and set in a wide basin surrounded by a lightly knobbed crown. The stem is medium length, medium stout in a russetted, funnel-shaped cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is white. Crisp and juicy, but with mild flavour.
uses: Selected for its rather compact growth, disease resistance, winter hardiness and shelf life.
origins: Developed by H. Jensen in 1943 at Balsgard Fruit Breeding Institute (Sweden) from an open-pollinated Ingrid Marie. Released in 1963. The pollen parent is unknown.
cultivation: Moderately vigorous. Prone to cracking.
