identification: Large, tending to very large. Round and slightly ribbed. The base colour is greenish yellow ripening to yellow often with a reddish blush on the sun-exposed face.
characteristics: The flesh is yellowish, firm. Juicy and sweet-tart.
uses: Intended for fresh eating but also favoured for apple sauce and dried apple slices.
origins: An open-pollinated seedling of Common Antonovka developed in 1946 at the Polli Horticultural Institute (Estonia) under the direction of Professor Aleksander Siimon. Selected in 1945 and released in 1946.
cultivation: Moderately vigorous. Precocious. Distinct tendency to biennial crops. Cold hardy.
vulnerabilities: Resistant to powdery mildew. Low susceptibility to scab.
