Synonyms: Marketed as Elegant.

Identification: Medium tending to large. Oblong. The base colour is yellow with a dense pattern of red to pink stripes covering 50 to 80 per cent of the surface with the base colour showing through on the shaded side.. The lenticels are large and white. The stem is moderately long and moderately stout, set in a deep basin which is often russetted. This russetting can extend as a network onto the face of the apple in some growing regions.

Characteristics: The flesh is creamy white, crisp. Sweet-tart and juicy.

Uses: Intended as a supermarket apple which is best eaten fresh or used in a fruit salad.

Origins: This variety was developed by the Agricultural Research Council (ARC Infruitec-Nietvoorbij) in Hatfield, Pretoria (South Africa). Cross of Granny Smith and Golden Delicious.

Cultivation: A vigorous, spreading tree with wide crotch angles. Fruit forms on shoots as well as on spurs. The fruit hangs well without excessive drop, even in periods of heavy winds.

Ploidism: Diploid. Self sterile.
