Identification: Small crab, round and slightly ribbed at the crown. Skin is green and oily. The stem is long and slender, set in a shallow, open cavity.

Uses: An ornamental flowering crab.

Origins: Developed by Dr. Neils E. Hansen at the South Dakota Experiment Station in Brookings, South Dakota (U.S.A.) by crossing Elk River with Malus pumila Duchess. Introduced in 1922.

Ploidism: Tetraploid. Self sterile.
