Eady’s Magnum

Identification: Large to very large. Round, sometimes round conic and often with angular sides. Greenish yellow base colour over which is a pale brown flush on the sun exposed face. Scattered russet lenticels. The eye is medium size and open, set in a shallow and narrow basin. The stem is short and medium thickness, set in a deep and narrow, russeted cavity.

Characteristics: The flesh is cream coloured, fine?grained and firm. Sharp

Uses: A cooking apple. Makes a sharp, fruity, lemon yellow sauce.

Origins: Raised by Miss D A Eady of Wellingborough, Northamptonshire c 1908.

Cultivation: Vigorous, upright spreading, partial tip bearer.
